June 18, 2015 Pints ‘n Pixels Mixer

We had a great time sharing stories of the old days and of new projects, looking at some wonderful photographs by our members, and enjoying a nice happy hour at Risky Business on Kolb & Sunrise. Our featured photographers were Derrick & Catrina Briscoe – seated in the front row with Chris Mooney.

We don’t know who those three bums in the very back were; they crashed the event!

Our next event will be at a new venue for us: Risky Business on Sunrise and Kolb (southwest corner). Submit some work to display, come network, share ideas, get answers to problems you might be facing and meet our highlighted members, Catrina & Derrick Briscoe.

Curious Camera Exhibit at Arts Eye Gallery in Tucson

Our friends at Photographic Works Lab are sponsoring their annual “Curious Camera” photo exhibit and have put out a call to artists. Submission deadline is April 5, 2015 for photographs made from alternative analog camera such as Holga, Diana, vintage pre-1950’s cameras, pinhole cameras (homemade or manufactured), Polaroid, etc.

Exhibit goes up on April 25 in Arts Eye Gallery within Photographic Works Lab at 3550 E. Grant Rd. Tucson, Az 85716. They are open Mon-Fri from 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm.

Through A Lens Darkly – Screening Jan. 19, 2015

In conjunction with Martin Luther King Day, our friends at The Loft Cinema in Tucson will be screening Through A Lens Darkly on Monday, January 19th.

The first documentary to explore the role of photography in shaping the identity, aspirations and social emergence of African Americans from slavery to present, Through a Lens Darkly traces the nearly 200-year struggle to counter demeaning and stereotyped images with positive and authentic ones, probing the recesses of American history by discovering photographs that have been suppressed, forgotten and lost.

ASMP Member and their guests, please join us for an evening of food, drink and fun on Friday, December 5, 2014. Seating is limited, so please RSVP as soon as possible. As always, we will run a slide show during the event, so please submit any photos (up to 20) to Martha that you’d like to include (professional, personal, silly, or holiday related – whatever you’d like) 1920 x 1080 pixels at 72 dpi with files named lastname_02, lastname_03, lastname_04, etc. to denote the order you’d like them displayed, skipping 01, as that will be used for the name slide. Please send those in by Dec. 3.
