The first documentary to explore the role of photography in shaping the identity, aspirations and social emergence of African Americans from slavery to present, Through a Lens Darkly traces the nearly 200-year struggle to counter demeaning and stereotyped images with positive and authentic ones, probing the recesses of American history by discovering photographs that have been suppressed, forgotten and lost.
2015 Board Retreat – ASMP Tucson
Another year down and a new one beginning! Your ASMP Tucson chapter’s board of directors spent Sunday morning reassessing our goals and planning out a rough draft for the upcoming year of educational and social events for you, our members.
Thank you Tom Spitz for hosting the meeting and welcome new member Catrina Briscoe for joining our ranks!
Thank you to those of you who responded back with your feedback on what you want in terms of programming this year. We appreciate your input.
ASMP Tucson Board Retreat – Jan. 11, 2015
It’s the start of a new year, which means it is time for our annual ASMP Tucson board retreat to plan the agenda and goals for the upcoming year.
President Tom Spitz, Treasurer Tom Veneklasen and Secretary Martha Lochert are happy to continue serving as the lynch-pins of our local chapter’s board, but we are in dire need of new board members. We can not do this alone for another year.
If you are interested, please join us Jan. 11 from 9 am – 12 pm at Tom Spitz’s place. Contact Martha or Tom for directions.
We are a fun group and the monthly commitment is minimal. Board members only need to attend a once-a-month board meeting, which runs and hour-and-a-half, and help in the planning and implementation of the events we host (usually about eight or nine per year).
